ffresh 10 Design Competition entry by Gemma Smart
Here’s the latest entry from 3rd year Glamorgan University student Gemma Smart. Voting for the competition will open on Monday, December 3rd.
Here’s what Gemma has to say about her entry:
The idea for this poster came from when me and my flatmates where playing around with the exposure and shutter speed settings on one of their new camera’s and we where experimenting with the different patterns and images that we could make using different lights. The whole process was fantastic fun and I feel that the images really show this, and captures how we feel about design, motion, film and animation, it should be exciting, fun and experimental.

ffresh 10 Design Competition entry by Jamie Pearce
Submissions for ffresh 10 Design Competition close next Friday (Nov 23rd). Here’s the 1st entry from Jamie Pearce. All entries will be uploaded to the Tumblr site once they’re received and public voting for your favourite entry will open on Monday, Nov 26th and close on Monday, December 3rd.
Here’s what Jamie has to say about his entry:
There were 3 elements of ffresh I wanted to capture: that it’s celebrating its 10th anniversary; that it’s a fun event; and simply that it’s a festival.
I achieved this by making the backdrop out of a series of images taken in a children’s playground. The colour light orbs, which were taken in a separate studio appeal to the student target audience who can relate to the nightclub inspired colours, they also hold a sense of mystery about them, which hints at a sense of discovery. Finally, I wanted the festival message to be brought across, so I tried to achieve this through the type, some of which has a sense of grunge, which relates to a camping or organic background.
